Six Questions You Should Ask Yourself When Pursuing Your Dreams?

Sometimes, business owners lose track of their purpose thanks to the mandatory, mundane tasks that are often required when running a business. But don’t worry! There are a few questions that you can ask yourself to reinvigorate your motivation while pursuing your dreams!

The Questions to Ask When Pursuing Your Dreams

What’s your highest priority in this lifetime?

What’s most important for you to experience, explore or embrace this time around? Until you answer this question, your life goals will not have a purpose. When you are not aligned with your inner passion, your intentions will not get you to where you want to go.

Therefore, it is time to really look into what brings you true joy. Then think of various bucket list goals that you could set that are in line with your joy.

Pro Tip: Jay Shetty’s book, Think Like a Monk, provides a few tools that are helpful for identifying a purpose!

Are you living YOUR dream or someone else’s dream?

Are your goals set by you or are they in place to gain acclaim and support from others? Every single person on this planet has a purpose, and therefore each person will add to the world in different ways! If you are living out someone else’s dream, you are robbing the world of your gifts.

Ask yourself, “Who am I doing this for?” or “Who am I trying to impress?” It is important to know that some of your goals might be YOUR dream and yet still impress your parents and friends. However, there is a difference in doing something that you love versus doing something to receive love.

Are you settling? This is an image with three sticky notes on a wooden table. Only the top sticky note is legible, and it reads, “Don’t Settle”. The image has a pink filter. Are you resigned to accepting less than your full share of love, health, and success this lifetime? Have you compromised and sacrificed your dream simply because it is difficult?

Anything short of living your true passions will never make you happy, and frankly, if it is “easy” you are likely settling!

What will you feel like when you accomplish your goal?

Let’s be honest, would you give up sugar if it did not make you “feel” better? No! So, it’s important to really think about the benefits of pursuing your dreams! Doing so will help you push through the difficult times and keep on trekking!

What steps can you take today toward your dream?

Oftentimes, people miss out on completing their goals because they never start. Therefore, it’s good to set up a good support network and systems around you to help instantly transform your intentions into actions.

Additionally, break the goal down into bite-size projects! If your goal is to run a marathon, train for a local fun-run first. Then, find a way to measure and track your progress. Then, celebrate those little wins-by writing in a journal or telling a friend!

Are you telling yourself: “I don’t deserve my dream”?

Most people don’t believe that they deserve their dream. Either their belief system convinces them that they can’t make a living doing what they love, or they feel they do not have the necessary skills to achieve their goal!

Everyone has a dream! And everyone is destined to fulfill that purpose. Why wait?

Final Thoughts

It is always important to keep a fire ignited when running a company. If you feel that your flame is out (or dimming), it may be time to evaluate your goals. Then, remind yourself that it is time to restart pursuing your dream!
