As entrepreneurs, we often put ourselves through a lot. As a result, many of us make taking care of our bodies a priority! However, we often forget about our brain… arguably one of the most important organs! So here are our three favorite tips to get a healthy brain in a short period of time.

Pro tip: Go easy on yourself and be patient. Instead of implementing all of these tips at once, it might be helpful to make these a habit one at a time!

How to Get a Health Brain

Drink More Water

Did you know that the human brain is made up of 80% water? Not only that, water plays an essential part in its function! Thus, when we are dehydrated, we can reduce our sense of well-being, and significantly reduce our performance and our ability to learn. Additionally, dehydration can have a negative impact on our long-term mental health.

On average, the human body can lose up to 2.5 liters of water (that’s 84.5 ounces) per day through the lungs, skin (sweat), and urine. That said, we must aim to at least replenish this loss on a daily basis.

So, try drinking more water and eating more fruit and vegetables (as these too are full of water) throughout the day. To do so, we suggest using a fun water bottle, such as a Giotto, to help track your hydration throughout the day!

Eat Brain-Friendly Fats

The remaining 20% of the brain that is not water is made up of 60% fat (which includes saturated fat and cholesterol). For years, people were afraid of consuming fat, but over the past few decades, more and more doctors are getting behind the consumption of “healthy fat”. 20% of the brain\’s fat should be made up of essential fatty acids or Omega-3 and Omega-6. These two essential fatty acids are important as they can not be made within your body, so you need to make sure that you are getting them from your diet. For example, eat oily fish as these are well-known sources of Omega-3 and Omega-6!

Get Physical

Yes, we need to exercise in order to keep our brains in shape! Scientists have realized that regular exercise can massively reduce the effects of depression, anxiety, and stress. In many cases, exercise can work just as well as antidepressants.

Perhaps start walking on a daily basis, or go to the gym! If both of those sound awful, I suggest looking into ClassPass because there are multiple options for exercise, some of which are really fun!
